Alliance Atlantis Communications, the corporation which produces the CSI shows and distributes motion pictures such as The Lord of the Rings in Canada, predicted that it would bring in one billion dollars from CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Miami.
In an investor forum, the company announced that the television franchise has helped the company reduce its debts and would create tens of millions in revenue by the end of the 2008 fiscal year, according to CBC News.
"From 2009 on, we are forecasting an additional approximately $300 million in pre-tax cash flow to Alliance Atlantis from CSI, for a total of approximately $625 million in franchise pre-tax cash flow for the company," stated Alliance Atlantis chief financial officer Judson Martin.
Gross profits from the shows should amount to about $500 million over the next five years, generating pre-tax cash flow of $325 million, said the company.
"With the impressive strength of the franchise's ratings...we are very confident in CSI's ability to achieve the forecasts we are presenting today," noted Martin, citing CSI's top ratings among all audience demographics and CSI: Miami's sixth-place overall rating on U.S. television.
Since the first quarter of 2002, Alliance Atlantis has managed to reduce its debt from $730 million to $421 million, and its shares were up 24 cents on Wednesday.
