Writer Donn Cortez, it was recently announced, will take over Max Allan Collins's CSI: Miami book series.

Cortez is currently working on books three and four of the Miami saga, which focuses on front man Horatio Caine and his team of Floridian CSIs. Book three is entitled The Body System, but details of the novel have yet to be released. The book is expected to be published in January of 2006.

Cortez is the author of the best selling e-book The Closer, which is also a finalist for the Daphne DuMaurier award in the category of best published mainstream mystery/suspense. The author's humorous biography claims he is, "addicted to science fiction, dogs, comic books, Kate, cats, Burning Man, hot tubs, Pop culture, nude beaches, and putting words down on paper."

Max Allan Collins wrote books one and two of the Miami novels - Florida Getaway and Heat Wave, but the writer recently decided to concentrate solely on CSI novels, passing Miami's baton to Cortez and allowing Stuart M. Kaminsky to pen down the New York series.

Collins's latest CSI project, Killing Game is scheduled to be released late October of this year. The art cover, which features the image of an eye with the Vegas gridlock as the background, was recently revealed by Pocket Books.
