Anne McGrail Crosses Over To 'Threshold'

By Carolina
July 22, 2005 - 10:20 PM

Consulting producer and writer Anne McGrail will this upcoming season co-executive produce the new procedural drama Threshold.

McGrail spent the last season as a consulting producer for Miami and writer for New York, but recently penned a two-year deal with Paramount Network Television that will grant her co-executive producer ranking in the new CBS drama Threshold. McGrail will also have the opportunity to create and develop new shows for the studio.

Threshold revolves around the government's reaction to an imminent alien invasion. "It's sort of a procedural that we're making up," McGrail explained, and said that unlike the pop cultural show The X-Files, "Our good guys are the government conspirators." The show stars Carla Gugino and Charles S. Dutton, and already has various promos airing on CBS.

Meanwhile, Laurie McCarthy, ex-executive producer for CSI: Miami, will be moving from the Eye to the Peacock. McCarthy will serve as executive producer to the new show Windfall, which NBC recently picked as a mid-season 2005-06 replacement.

In Windfall, a group of 20 friends manage to win the $386 million lottery jackpot. But their bliss quickly fades, and the money ultimately causes marital, ethical, legal and criminal problems for the group. Windfall stars ex-90291 resident, Luke Perry.

"With its dueling themes of dreams coming true and 'be careful what you wish for,' Windfall is both fun and provocative," said Kevin Reilly, President, NBC Entertainment. "We feel like we found a diamond-in-the-rough when this pilot became available."
