The cast of CSI: Crime Scene Investigations spent half of last week filming the fourteenth episode of the season, "Suckers," in Las Vegas.

"It's our 'caper' episode," creator Anthony Zuiker told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He also revealed that the episode would feature "a Steve Wynn-like casino owner."

"Suckers" was written by Danny Cannon and Josh Berman. Cannon also directed the episode. Co-executive producer Cannon has directed episodes such as "Abra Cadaver" (which he also co-wrote) and "Who Are You?". Supervising producer Berman has written many episodes, including "Crash and Burn" and Face Lift".

The CSI cast was on location for three days, from Monday, December 15th through Wednesday December 17th. Prior to that, many cast members attented a Vanity Fair party held at Bellagio's Light club on the Sunday before filming began. This is the last shoot of 2003, and the CSI cast and crew are now on break until January.

The Monday shoot took place at the Palamino Club, which was transformed into a goth-style set. The Green Valley Ranch was the location of Tuesday's shoot, where the crew utilized the pool for a crucial scene in the episode. The final day of shooting took place on the casino floor and in the Presidential Suite at Caesar's Palace.

Zuicker spoke confidently of the upcoming February sweeps. "We're going to have the best sweeps period ever in February." he said. "We have some really big monsters [episodes] coming up."

When queried about the news that a third CSI show is in the works, Zuicker acknowledged that it was a likelihood, and that it could be happening soon. "If I were a gambling man, I'd bet on it happening sooner rather than later," he said. "Nothing's been determined. [But] there's a pretty good possibility it will happen in the future."
