'CSI' Viewers Are Emotionally Attached

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation keeps people watching.
Q Scores are determined by Marketing Evaluations, Inc, and they go beyond traditional ratings scores. According to their site, "A variety of key audience measures are obtained throughout the year for over 50 different demographic segments in the areas of personality and character appeal, program/network likeability, audience impact and current viewer emotional attachment." This type of information can help the network decide the "true" appeal of a program, including its characters, actors and storylines.
One important measurement is the "Emotional Attachment Index". As the Orlando Sentinel reported, the company says this Q Score "indicates the commitment that key viewers have to continue watching a show into the future." A higher number signifies a higher level of attachment.
The Q Scores for emotional attachment were determined for shows coming back this fall. CBS reality show Survivor: Micronesia came out on top with a score of 177. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation was in fourth place with 147. Six more CBS shows made the top 20: Survivor China was fifth with 145, Criminal Minds came in seventh with 138, NCIS was tied for ninth place with 132, The Unit took twelfth with 128, Ghost Whisperer had 127 (earning the thirteenth spot), and Without a Trace was the final CBS show on the list in fourteenth place with a score of 125.
The full top 20 list of scores in the "Emotional Attachment Index" can be read at the Orlando Sentinel. The official site for Q Scores is Marketing Evaluations, Inc.
