Linn Goes From OK To LA

He's more than just a good 'ole boy.
CSI: Miami's Rex Linn (Frank Tripp) still considers Oklahoma home, but he always dreamed of moving out to Hollywood to be an actor. He made the trip in 1990, and his career first took off when he starred alongside Sylvester Stallone in the 1993 movie Cliff Hanger. Now Linn has more than 35 major film credits to his name and a starring role alongside David Caruso (Horatio Caine) on Miami.
"You know, it's not necessarily that I try to put on a good 'ole boy act, I don't," Linn told Stacey Cameron from Oklahoma's News On 6. "I just grew up around great people in Oklahoma, and that's the way I act out here. I haven't changed at all." Linn gave Cameron a tour of the Miami set and showed him the truth behind the TV glitz.
"This is where we've got all of our chemicals on the show," Linn explained, referring to the colorful bottles of liquid on one of the lab sets. "Actually, it's just basically Gatorade. You can drink it if you wanted to." Linn also described his favorite Miami set: the computer lab. "When it's lit up, all these machines work, and this is where the good looking girls hang out and do their lab work, and that's why, when I get a chance, I hang out here," Linn said.
Linn may be successful in Hollywood, but he's a star in Oklahoma--specifically, he has a star on the Walk of Fame at Carpenter Square Theatre in Oklahoma City. He admitted to getting a bit emotional when it was presented to him. "Well, I bawled, you know. I mean, they gave it to me and I was trying to be macho about it and I got teared up," he explained. "What a great honor."
