The unsigned band Scars on 45 got mainstream exposure by having their song "Beauty's Running Wild" featured during the wedding scene in "Green Piece".
The band was working on their debut album in the United Kingdom when the song was chosen to play during the scene in which Danny Messer (Carmine Giovinazzo) and Lindsay Monroe (Anna Belknap) got married. "While we were recording the album our manager in America started saying he would put some feelers out on American television because it could generate some good money and lessen the load a bit," Danny Bemrose, who wrote the song, told Bradford Telegraph and Argus. The band had several songs featured on the A&E series The Cleaner before Christmas. "And then out of the blue we just landed this CSI spot at the end of the programme," Bemrose said.
"It's pretty unprecedented really for an unsigned, unheard-of band to get such a spot," the singer explained. After "Green Piece" aired, the band's website got 25,000 hits within just two days. "It's gone a bit mental really since it went out," Bemrose shared. "It's hard to get your head around."
The exposure has caused the band to reconsider a decision they made about "Beauty's Running Wild". "It's an old song that initially wasn't going to go on the album," Bemrose said, "but obviously now we have been pressured into recording it for the album." Scars on 45 aims to release their debut album during the summer, but for now fans can get the song for free by e-mailing the band at scarson45@hotmail.co.uk to join their mailing list.
