‘CSI’ Uncovers Two Real Corpses In One Week

On Tuesday, September 13, cast and crew members of CSI:NY got a surprise when a real-life mummified corpse was found in the same Los Angeles building where they were shooting. Authorities believe the dead body belonged to a tenant who died some time ago. The corpse was discovered by the building superintendent who was trying to collect unpaid rent from the tenant.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the tenant appeared to have died of natural causes. The body was taken to the county coroner’s office for an autopsy.

CSI:NY stars Gary Sinise and Melina Kanakaredes were not on set at the time the coprose was discovered, just day players and stunt people.

The ironic on-location discovery was repeated a few days later at a CSI:Miami shoot.

On Friday, September 15, a man’s body washed up at Bicentennial Park in Biscayne Bay, Florida, where a crew was filming aerial shots of a fictional offshore investigation for CSI:Miami. A homeless man spotted the body and alerted an off-duty police officer who was working security on the set.

The body had no signs of injury and the death was not considered suspicious, according to authorities. “Unfortunately, it’s not unusual during certain times of the year that people who have fallen in the bay, either homeless or people who were asleep or in some cases boaters who had a mishap, fall into the bay and turn up days later,” said Miami police spokesman Detective Delrish Moses.
