If it weren't for the fire extinguisher Greg found in the back of Grissom's new ride, CSI Nick Stokes might not have survived the season finale. The new Mobile Analysis Unit, otherwise known as the Yukon XL Denali, was designed specifically for CSI use and will be Grissom's brand new ride for the next season.

"Basically one of the things I was trying to achieve with this car generally, is just to make this thing sort of a masculine, almost muscle car that is at the same time a scientific lab," said production designer Richard Berg of the new Mobile Analysis Unit. "It would be Grissom's car that he would travel with in the field and it would have much of the stuff that he would have in his kit as well as some the stuff that he'd have from the CSI lab contained within the car itself."

The new Denali comes equipped with every tool available and necessary to investigate a crime scene. It's also designed to navigate through any type of terrain, and will even work as a giant flash light for the night shift. "One of the first things we talked about is the lighting of the vehicle in the exterior. We just added as many lights as we could fit in without looking silly, but at the same time it had to be practical. So there's probably a dozen exterior front lights on this vehicle."

"One thing that was paramount in this vehicle is that it looked real. And that you could imagine how it would work and that's unveiled to us as we see Grissom use it. When he goes inside a drawer and pulls something out you can see that that drawer was designed for the article that he pulls out," Berg added. "It's a new breed of technology."
