Legendary actor Ed Asner has been nominated for an Emmy for his guest-starring role in the CSI: New York episode "Yahrzeit".

As CSI Files previously reported, Asner was submitted for consideration in the "Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series" category for the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards. The official nominations were announced Thursday, and Asner's name made the list. The other four nominees in the category are Ted Danson (Damages), Jimmy Smits (Dexter), Ernest Borgnine (ER) and Michael J Fox (Rescue Me).

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation received three nominations. "A Space Oddity" was recognized in the "Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup For A Series, Miniseries, Movie Or A Special" category. The show was nominated in the "Outstanding Sound Editing For A Series" category for the 200th episode, "Mascara". The season nine premiere, "For Warrick", received a nomination for "Outstanding Cinematography For A One Hour Series".

In addition to the nominations for CSI and CSI: NY, the CBS network is up for Emmy awards in other categories. How I Met Your Mother is on the ballot for "Outstanding Comedy Series". Jim Parsons (Big Bang Theory) and Charlie Sheen (Two and a Half Men) are up for "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series", and Simon Baker is nominated in the "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series" category for his role on the freshman drama The Mentalist. In the "Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series" category, Julia Louis-Dreyfus made the list for her role on The New Adventures of Old Christine.

The full list of nominees can be found at Coming Soon. The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards will air September 20 on CBS.
