Proctor Races On Familiar Turf

CSI:Miami’s Emily Procter (Calleigh Duquesne) raced on familiar ground in a pro-celebrity car race on Saturday. The Toyota Pro-Celebrity race took place in Long Beach, a city often used as an on-screen substitute for Miami.
The 1.97 mile street course used for the race has also dubbed as many crime scenes for Procter. During the filming season, she is in that neighborhood about once a week. She has raced these streets before. “Honestly, there are some times when you have to be here at 6:00 a.m. And you know I am coming from Los Angeles, and I have the petal to the metal. I am not afraid to open it up on the straightaway. So it is very familiar to me,” the actress said.
Procter grew up in North Carolina – NASCAR country. She says she has enjoyed watching auto racing for years. “My mother is a huge sports enthusiast. She watches everything on TV and we all watch it too.”
Perhaps Procter may have gotten a little too into her role as a race car driver. Her car slammed into the front of a car driven by George Lucas, pinning his vehicle against a wall. “I should have just let her go by me,” said Lucas.
