'CSI,' 'Miami' & 'New York' Review Round-Up
By CarolinaNovember 16, 2005 - 8:11 PM
CSI's "A Bullet Runs Through It" and the hyped Miami/New York crossover episodes "Felony Flight" and "Manhattan Manhunt" have attracted more critics than the shows have in the last few weeks. Below, various websites review and provide recaps for the latest episodes of CSI, Miami and New York.
- MSN has updated their CSI section with a character-by-character review of the episode "Secrets & Flies," where they mention each character's strong points in the episode. You can read the review here.
- Fandom Talk provided an entire recap of the same episode
- And if you missed the episode, CBS has provided a detailed description, complete with pictures, of "Secrets & Flies."
- Gary Sherwood, of n:zone, had this to say about the episode "A Bullet Runs Through It:"
"Paul Guilfoyle gives an Emmy-worthy performance when a clearly traumatized Brass tries to remember the shooting details before Catherine Willows and a sharp-tempered IAD investigator. And Louise Lombard is just half a step behind, Curtis's silent shock registering when she thinks she may have been responsible for killing another cop."
His partner Beth Danesco, however, disliked the way the Latino community was portrayed in the episode. You can find their reviews here.
- MSN, like the rest of the fandom, is wondering if it was Sofia who shot Officer Bell or even Brass. In their character-by-character recap they mention that with an officer like Ortega on the case, the answers will not be elusive.
- Tom Biro, from TV Squad, delved into one of the most talked-about aspects of "A Bullet Runs Through It," Nick's mustache. Biro also wondered if Greg's sunglasses were rescued from the set of CSI: Miami. You can read his review here.
- And CBS.com has also updated the official CSI website with a complete recap of "A Bullet Runs Through It."
- n:zone's Gary Sherwood also provided a review for the CSI: Miami episode "Felony Flight." Sherwood, unfortunately, found the episode slow and lacking in imagination, mentioning this is the fourth time CSI: Miami has resorted to plane crashes (the other three times being in the episodes "Golden Parachute," "Not Landing," and "Money Plane") as plot devices, and the nth time Horatio has promised a child he will catch his mother's/father's/etc's killer. You can read Sherwood's review here.
- CBS.com has also written a complete recap of "Felony Flight."
- Maureen Ryan, of the Chicago Tribune, wasn't too keen on "Felony Flight," either. Ryan thought that despite the talents of Gary Sinise (Mac Taylor) and Melina Kanakaredes (Stella Bonasera), who appeared on the second part of the episode, the dialogue was flat and cheesy. You can read her review here.
- The CSI: New York episode "YoungBlood" didn't do much for the crowd of Fandom Talk. The recaper mentioned, quite outrageously, that the producers of New York have spent so much time worrying about the new look of the show they've neglected the quality of the writing. But they still hope the rest of the season will see better storylines.
- NancyGail, from BlogCritics.com, provided a short recap of the episode here.
- But if you'd like a more detailed description of "YoungBlood," complete with pictures, head over to CBS.com.
- Gary Sherman returned one last time to provide a review of the New York episode "Manhattan Manhunt." He had this to say about it:
The highlight is a mid-episode confrontation aboard a subway train and Sinise, a veteran of Chicago's Steppenwolf theatre troupe, charges the scene with his steely gaze and gritty crackle of a voice. He's not the best reason to watch CSI: New York, he's the ONLY reason.
Sherman, however, found the rest of the episode disappointing. You can read his review here.
- BlogCritics and CBS.com have written complete descriptions of the "Manhattan Manhunt" episode.
- And of course, make sure to read CSI Files's Kristine Huntley's reviews of the episodes "Felony Flight," "YoungBlood," and "Manhattan Manhunt."
