Ronnie Wood Said 'No' To 'CSI'

Ronnie Wood, guitarist for the Rolling Stones, was offered the chance to do a guest spot on one of the CSI shows.

"They wanted me to be Uncle Ron the safe cracker," Wood told Virgin Radio. He did not specify which member of the CSI franchise he would have played in. CSI: Miami's Ryan Wolfe (Jonathan Togo) mentioned an Uncle Ron in the season three episode "Crime Wave". In "Darkroom" during season five, Ryan stated that his uncle had been a safe cracker. It is unknown whether this was the role that Wood was offered, or even if the two uncles were meant to be the same man.

Wood did not jump at the chance to do a cameo. "I saw Roger Daltrey do a guest appearance - he said it was all too much. No time to rehearse and he had to play five parts. I said no, I didn't really want to go in like that." Daltrey guest-starred in "Living Legend" during the seventh season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and his role required him to wear a variety of prosthetic disguises. Wood did not clarify if his own cameo appearance would have been as complicated as Daltrey's had been.

Wood declined the offer even though he is a fan of CSI. He did say that he would reconsider if there was a fourth CSI series set on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. "It would be interesting if they set one in London and I could be an old time safe cracker," he said. "That would be fun."
