Having A Contract Feels Fantastic, Says Rex Linn

By Carolina
November 15, 2005 - 7:20 AM

Rex Linn (Det. Frank Tripp) appeared on the TV Guide Channel's new show inFANity to talk about his new contract with CSI: Miami.

The actor this year signed a deal that'll make him a permanent part of the cast and will even grant him credit billing, and he isn't even trying to downplay his excitement. "I signed a contract and it feels fantastic. I've been having so much fun working with every actor on the show. I love coming to work every day, and that is the honest to God truth."

The actor also recalled his first day on the set of Miami and how co-star David Caruso (Horatio Caine) made him feel welcomed. "When they hired me it was not for a recurring role, so one episode, and when I walked in the make up trailer David was on the other side and he got up and walked over and he said, 'thanks for doing our show, I'm a big fan of yours,' and I thought, 'wow, this is gonna be swell."

inFANity also talked to Linn's co-stars about their characters and how the show has changed their lives. Emily Procter (Calleigh Duquesne) revealed her Miami persona has gotten her interested in guns. "It's all really fascinating, I feel like not only did I get a job, but I got this very weird set of hobbies." If there's one thing Procter and Duquesne don't share, however, it's their fashion sense. "Emily does not dress anything like Calleigh."

Jonathan Togo (Ryan Wolfe) explained his character is nothing like him. "He's not a very tactful person and he doesn't get along all the time with everyone here at work," he said, and added that while Miami has added to his fame, he rarely gets recognized as himself. "I only get recognized as Eric Szmanda (Greg Sanders), from regular CSI."

And the show's coroner Khandi Alexander (Dr. Alexx Woods) admitted her life has changed since joining Miami, now she spends her free time buried under books. "When I'm not on camera then usually someone calling me saying, 'okay, you know what that means, can you say it?' So it's constant research." The actress added Miami has also helped her learn things about herself she didn't know. "I didn't realize how much how enjoy the blood and the gore, I just love it now!"

David Caruso revealed season four will uncover some of the secrets surrounding his character's past, and explained the key to Miami's success is the fans. "I can say that there is a deep and intimate relationship with viewers where CSI is concerned. That's part of the hypnotic tone of these shows and it's really hit it home."
