Ratings Round-Up

CSI: New York was the only member of the franchise to gain in overall viewers last week.

On Monday, sports drew a lot of male viewers to ESPN for Monday Night Football and TBS for a postseason baseball game. This caused shows with a large male audience to drop, particularly on NBC. CBS was not hit as hard, however, and CSI: Miami was the clear nonsports winner in its timeslot with 14.45 million viewers (down from the previous episode) and a 4.5 rating/11 share for the night.

CSI: New York's lead-in Criminal Minds was the most watched show of the night on Wednesday with 14.55 million viewers and a 3.9/10 in the crucial 18-49 demographic. At 10:00pm, the overall viewer count on CBS went down, and New York only had 13.43 million viewers overall. However, these were CSI: NY's highest numbers so far this season, and even though they had fewer viewers than their lead-in, they had a higher share in the 18-49 demographic with 4.1/11. New York's personal gain in viewers widened the gap between the veteran show and its two main rookie competitors, Dirty Sexy Money and Life, both of which lost viewers week to week.

For the second week in a row, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation lost in overall viewers from week to week, getting 19.6 million viewers for the latest episode. Despite the slip, CSI had the highest overall audience for Thursday. However, ABC's Grey's Anatomy continued to perform better than CSI in 18-49 and 25-54 and also dominated in key female demographics.
