Procter Plays A 'Wickedly Tough Woman'

CSI: Miami's Emily Procter loves playing Calleigh Duquesne, and she is looking forward to an action packed season for her character.

"I love playing such a wickedly tough woman," Procter told What's on TV. "She's so aggressive and so serious. If I were hanging out with Calleigh, the first thing I'd do is buy her a beer – she needs to relax."

The character is a ballistics expert, and Procter was initially reluctant to take that type of role. "I was very conflicted about playing someone who is so pro-gun," she explained. "But I started doing ballistics training once a week, and now I am fascinated and excited by the gun work. If the show ended tomorrow, I'd still go and train – it's like doing a dance with a machine."

Another thing Procter likes is doing action scenes for Miami. "[T]his year I'm doing a lot more stunt work," she revealed. "I've been wanting to jump off a tall building for years."

Despite the guns and the action, Calleigh is still a glamorous woman. To stay lovely in the heat and sun on Miami, "I have a SWAT team of beauty people with aerosols, hairbrushes and lip-liner," Procter explained. That beauty is part of the look of the series. "One of the things I love about the show is that it's a fantasy and it has this comic-book undertone," the actress said. "There are a lot of bikinis, guns and explosions, and we have a ball."
