Max Allan Collins, the man responsible for many of the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Miami teams' comic book adventures, will now take on a new set of CSIs when he writes the first CSI: New York comics for IDW Publishing.

According to Silver Bullet Comic Books, the New York writing gig is one Collins was wishing for. "Having done both Vegas and Miami in various forms—novels, video games, and so on—I was hoping I'd get asked to be part of the new NYC franchise," the author said.

Though no release date has been set for the comic, and Collins won't give away any plot details, he's already started the planning process, and is looking forward to exploring the new venue for the third CSI show. "The grittiness that venue provides can give us a whole new take on the CSI format, and my forensics researcher Matt Clemens and I are already cooking up grisly fare for this new team of CSIs," Collins noted.

Collins has penned quite a few CSI tie-ins, including novels, comic books, and even video games. Among others, he's written the CSI graphic novel CSI: Serial and the CSI: Miami novel Florida Getway.

IDW is happy to be adding the new line to the successful CSI family. "CSI has been a linchpin of our publishing program from the beginning," IDW Editor-in-Chief Jeff Mariotte said. "CSI: New York looks like a terrific addition to the line-up, and we look forward to telling new adventures of Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise), Stella Bonasera (Melina Kanakaredes) and their team.”
