Echikunwoke: They Might Have Eyes For Each Other

The new girl gets the go-ahead.

Megalyn Echikunwoke (Dr Tara Price) replaced Dr Alexx Woods (Khandi Alexander) as CSI: Miami's resident coroner. The character started out recurring, but she was moved to series regular after a few episodes. The initial episodes were a sort of trial period for the character, Echikunwoke said. Because the show was well-established, with a "solid and vast fanbase", the actress told TV Guide, "I think that you sort of have to make sure that the new character is okay with everybody."

Dr Price passed the test to become a series regular, but Echikunwoke doesn't know about any specific plans for her character. "I wish I did," she said. "I know that there are lots of ideas about expanding the character in different ways and maybe [add] some romance somewhere." The big question regarding romance for her character is whether Dr Price might have a relationship with Eric Delko (Adam Rodriguez)--despite his feelings for Calleigh Duquesne (Emily Procter). "It might happen," Echikunwoke revealed. "I think they might have eyes for each other."

The actress enjoys working on the show. "I'm having a lot of fun," she said. "It's really fun to be playing this kind of character. I've never really had the opportunity to be a professional, savvy, cheeky, smart, strong woman before, and I enjoy the challenge."
