Ads, DVDs Urge Emmy Voters To Investigate 'CSI'

With nomination ballots due to be returned by June 20, readers of trade papers such as Variety and the Hollywood Reporter have been treated to full-page "For Your Consideration" advertisements featuring the casts of both CSI series.

The photo to the right, which comes courtesy of the William Petersen Appreciation Page, shows the regular cast of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and features quotations from prominent publications such as TV Guide, People and The New York Times: "fascinating", "sexy", "amazing".

As previously reported, members of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences have received promotional CSI DVDs featuring two episodes of the third season, "The Accused Is Entitled" and "Lady Heather's Box". According to the Emmy Watch web site, these episodes are designed for push for CSI Emmy nominations in all categories.

'CSI: Miami' Emmy ad - copyright CBS CSI: Miami has also been getting in on the Emmy publicity action. The trade paper advertisement and "For Your Consideration" DVD feature the same photo of the Miami cast members beside a pool, with a headline proclaiming the series as the "Most Watched New Drama" this season. The ad, which can be found at this eBay auction, also features critics' comments, such as "taut and stylish" and "fascinating".

Also available on eBay, the CSI: Miami DVD contains two episodes from the second half of the season, "Dispo Day" and "Double Cap". The first sees the CSIs under investigation over a drug heist, while the second deals with the murder of a witness in a protection programme.

All nomination ballots must be returned by Friday, June 20, but the nominations will not be announced until July 17. This year's Emmy ceremonies will be held on September 13 (Creative Arts categories) and September 21 (Primetime Awards). Further CSI Emmy ads can be found at the William Petersen Appreciation Page.
