'CSI' Gets Creative

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Miami accept statuettes.

The 59th Creative Arts Emmy Awards were handed out this past Saturday in Los Angeles. The awards honor creative technical and artistic achievements in television. This year, the CSI franchise received eight nominations and took home two awards.

All three members of the franchise received nominations. Five of the eight nominations went to CSI: Outstanding Makeup for a Series (Non-Prosthetic) for "Fannysmackin'", Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, Miniseries, Movie or a Special for "Living Legend; Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) for "Law of Gravity", Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One-Hour) for "Living Doll" and Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series for "Built to Kill". Miami received a nomination in Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series for "No Man's Land". Both Miami and CSI: New York were nominated in the Outstanding Stunt Coordination category for "Rush" and "Sleight Out of Hand", respectively.

Out of eight nominations, the CSI franchise took home two awards. New York left without a statuette, but CSI and Miami both won in their categories. "Living Doll" earned CSI the Emmy for sound mixing. Miami won the stunt coordination Emmy against the competitors, including fellow franchise member New York. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be aired on E! Entertainment Television Saturday, September 15 at 8:00 pm Eastern.
