Fox Gets Some Global Insight

Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) visits Wyoming for a film festival and talks about her interest in the arts.
Fox wouldn't reveal anything about season eight of CSI. "All I can say is they don’t call it a cliffhanger for nothing," she told Planet Jackson Hole. "So, everybody’s just going to have to tune in in September and see what happens to poor Sarah Sidle, who’s in a bit of a bind right now." Fox has been on the hit drama for seven years, but she said that she is grateful for the show. "If something’s going to consume you for seven years of your life, for me I feel very lucky it was CSI," she said.
Growing up, Fox said that her family encouraged her interest in the arts. Both of her parents had to put aside their own artistic aspirations in favor of more practical jobs. "They were in the Depression," she said. "My dad was in WWII. My grandmother was in the house as well, and they were all extremely supportive." Fox said that she loves film and in the future would like to be a producer "and help people get their stories told. Probably not on TV, but maybe in the documentary film world, feature film world. I have a little theatre company in LA. We put up original plays."
The Jackson Hole Film Festival invited Fox to be a judge in the Global Insight category. She said that she thinks these are films that Americans should see. "It might sound kind of hokey," she said, "but things are happening, and if you’re paying taxes then you are paying for them to happen, so why not go and see the movie and be sure of what is happening, if you know what I mean." Fox also said that she thinks it's exciting that the Internet allows "people all over the world to get a camera and make a movie."
Wyoming is a state that is known for its game hunting, but even though Fox is a vegetarian and animal activist, she said that she doesn't have a problem with that. "I think, first and foremost for me, it’s about conservation and environmentalism, and people just being aware," she said. She said that vegetarianism is "a way I like to live my life, and I’m a pacifist, and it’s another way to be a pacifist."
