Tarantino Begins Shooting 'CSI' Finale

Filming for the CSI season finale, which will be directed by Quentin Tarantino, began earlier this week at the Santa Clarita Studios in California.

The shooting will also take the cast and crew on location to Las Vegas for the episode, which will fade the season to black with a cliffhanger. Tarantino, who has been a fan of the show since it premiered, approached the producers earlier this year to express his love for the show. The producers took the opportunity to bring him on board. "When he came in to talk to us, he told us this story about how he felt he had discovered the show when it first came on the air and he was an instant fan," said executive producer Carol Mendelsohn.

Though the episode was written by Mendelshon, Anthony Zuiker, and Naren Shankar, the idea for the plot came from Tarantino himself. The producers fell in love with it instantly and began to work on the script, which promises to see more bugs and blood than usual, as is characteristic of the director's style. Added Mendelshon, "I mean, there's Quentin Tarantino in our writers' room. And he loves television. He's watched every TV movie, every TV show and he pitched out the first idea and we said, 'You don't have to go any further. It's a great idea.'"

But the great idea has been kept a secret since Tarantino came on board. The episode, which Shankar described as, "much more of a thriller than we normally do," will see one of the characters in a life or death situation. Though the producers admitted nothing will happen to front-man Gil Grissom, they revealed the victim is on Grissom's team, which includes characters Sara Sidle, Greg Sanders, and Sofia Curtis. Fans will have to wait until the premiere of season 6 to learn of the character's fate.

The CSI season finale is set to air on May 19th. To read the original article, visit World Screen.com.
