CSI star William Petersen has returned to the show after taking a leave of absence to perform on a Providence, Rhode Island stage. Find out what lies ahead for his character in the latest issue of TV Guide.
Grissom returns to Las Vegas to find some developments that make his job tougher. His replacement Mike Keppler (played by Liev Schreiber) stirred up some problems in the lab and the serial killer who has been taunting Grissom with miniature crime scene replicas has returned. Additionally, Grissom returns to find his office love Sara less excited to see him than he is to see her.
“Grissom has a greater understanding of his feelings for Sara (Jorja Fox) when he returns. He’s so excited to see her but she’s less excited to see him,” says executive producer Carol Mendelsohn. “But later we’re going to see the two of them in Grissom’s apartment.” Mendelsohn hints that the cocoon Grissom sent Sara while we was away is symbolic of their relationship and there will be a payoff for fans.
When Grissom goes through his mail, he discovers yet another miniature replica of a crime scene, only this time he doesn’t know where the miniature is a replica of a crime already committed or about to be committed. “If it’s the later,” Mendelsohn says, “will the CSIs be able to stop it in time?” Mendelsohn cautions that there has already been a hint as to the identity of the killer, but viewers have to look closely as the season continues.
