'CSI' Wins Best Drama At People's Choice Awards

CSI has picked up the Best Drama statuette at the 32nd Annual People's Choice Awards.
In a ceremony that aired last night, the series was chosen as favorite television drama by a crop of fans, who voted via the People's Choice Awards official website. The series was up against Desperate Housewives and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, but despite the shocking popularity of the former, fans have shown once more they can't get enough CSI.
William Petersen (Gil Grissom) accepted the award on behalf of the cast. "You know we travel around a little bit and in shopping malls, supermarkets, airports, and people want an autographs, or photographs but mostly they wanna tell us how much they love the show, and they say they carve out their Thursday nights to watch CSI, and their sons and daughters are interested in science again and stuff like that, and I have to tell you what a very special gift that is for us, to hear that all over the country."
CSI's win makes up for a year of disappointing snubs in the awards circuit. The series was shut out of the Best Drama nod at the Emmys and failed to pick up an Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series at the SAG Awards this year, despite having won last year.
This isn't the first time CSI has won favorite drama at the People's Choice Awards. The show received the same honor in the years 2003, 2004, and 2005.
