Season Two Wins Over UK Reviewers

The release of the first part on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's second season on DVD in Region 2 has left British critics wanting more.
DVD Monthly's Tim Isaac said the sole drawback to the DVD set was that it only contained half a season. "You have a frustrating wait until they release the second half of the series a couple of months later," he wrote (via the William Petersen Appreciation Page). But, he acknowledged, "with hours of top quality entertainment, you can't complain too much".
Isaac especially enjoyed the featurettes included in the DVD package. "A 'behind the scenes' one looks at the music, special effects and make-up, including a man being made up to look like a corpse that's been slammed through a windshield," he wrote. However, his favourite extra feature was the tour of the CSI set with consulting producer Elizabeth Devine.
Describing CSI as a "really cracking series" overall, DVD Monthly's Isaac gave the episodes a score of eight out of ten and the featurettes a score of seven.
Ben Woodhams from Ultimate DVD was disappointed by the season two premiere, "Burked", but said the remainder of the episodes boasted "high-quality scripts". He awarded the series five stars, citing his favourite episode as "Ellie", which he described as a "perfectly handled tear-jerker".
The featurettes were given four stars, with the highlight being "a 40-minute cast and crew feature packed with interviews, illustrative clips and ancedotes".
Season two, part one, can be ordered from Amazon.co.uk for 25% off the purchase price. For North American fans, the entire second season will be released on DVD on September 2 and is available for pre-order from Amazon.com.
