Hello World!
With the summer almost upon us in the United States, we have several things to look ahead to: warm weather, longer, hopefully sunshine-filled days, and--a new season of television? The summer season has caught on like wildfire, and this year stations are hyping their summer seasons almost as much as they hype their fall ones.
Granted, many of the summer shows will be reality shows. If that's your thing, you'll have plenty of shows to choose from, including the second incarnation of The Simple Life and another For Love or Money run. If not, pickings are slimmer...but not nonexistant.
Last year, Fox debuted The OC in the middle of the summer season. The show gained a small but loyal audience in the summer, and went on to thrive in the fall. Its young stars grace the covers of fashion and gossip magazines, and the show earned a reputation as being the new Beverly Hills 90201.
Crime shows have even gotten in on the fun: a new show called The Jury is due over the summer months. Could CSI and Law & Order summer shows be far behind? I'd love to see how Grissom, Horatio, and Taylor spend their summers. Perhaps the three could collaborate on a case. Super CSI, anyone? It's unlikely they could persuade the shows' big stars into giving up their summer vacations, but it wouldn't be surprising if the next CSI spinoff (New Orleans? Chicago? San Francisco?) got a jump start on the fall season by taking the summer by storm.

Tonight, CBS will air the new CSI: Miami episode, "Rap Sheet". Here is TV Guide's description of the episode:
rapper survives after being gunned down while performing at a Miami club, but his bodyguard isn't as fortunate. The investigation centers on another rapper who claims the wounded man stole his song. In another case, a woman wakes up in the morgue in a body bag. She was thought to be dead following an accident in which her girlfriend died, although it's later learned that the friend was killed before the accident took place.
On Thursday, CBS airs CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's new episode "No More Bets". TV Guide describes the episode:
At times the personal stories (think Grissom's hearing loss) can slow down the action on this series, but that's not true of Catherine's relationship with casino owner Sam Braun (Scott Wilson). She learned last year that he's her dad after comparing her DNA with his blood when he was a murder suspect, and unwittingly helped him beat that charge. He later gave her a hefty check, which she cashed. Tonight Sam is again wanted for homicide when a man caught cheating at one of his casinos ends up dead. Grissom immediately dismisses Catherine from the case, but she finds it hard to stay away.
