Vernon: It's A Little Wink To 'Battlestar'

Kate Vernon talks about her upcoming appearance on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and how her role relates to Battlestar Galactica.
As CSI Files previously reported, CSI will delve into the world of science fiction later this season. The episode, titled "A Space Oddity", will air on April 16. CSI writers David Weddle and Bradley Thompson are former writers for Battlestar. The episode will be directed by Michael Nankin, who is also connected to the sci-fi series. "A Space Oddity" will feature Vernon, who plays Ellen Tigh on Battlestar, and a cameo from the show's executive producer Ron Moore.
"I play a professor of media theology, and I'm making a documentary on the Gestalt constructs of sci-fi mythocultures," Vernon explained to TV Guide, adding that the episode includes a mock sci-fi convention. "Everyone's in these various outfits," she shared. "And of course there's a murder that takes place, and it's a little wink to Battlestar."
"It has a bit of a Battlestar Galactica vibe to it," CSI executive producer Naren Shankar confirmed to Ausiello. "A Space Oddity" will also give a few of the lab rats something to do. Shankar revealed that the episode features "Hodges (Wallace Langham) and Wendy (Liz Vassey) re-enacting scenes from a campy -- and entirely fictional -- 1960's era sci-fi TV show."
The original interview with Vernon is from TV Guide. Additional information about the episode is from Ausiello.
