It was something of a rocky week for the CSI franchise.

Monday was the eve of the US Presidential election. CSI: Miami came in second behind the Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash, which had an average of 13.32 million viewers during the 10:00pm hour and a 5.8 rating/14 share (falling to 5.0/13 at the half-hour) in the 18-49 demographic. Miami had 12.67 million viewers and 3.6/9. Boston Legal rounded out the hour with 7.22 million viewers and 2.0/5.

CSI: New York won its timeslot on Wednesday, but the viewer numbers were down to a season low 11.75 million. It had 3.3/9 in the 18-49 demo. The premiere of Law and Order's nineteenth season came in second with 7.85 million viewers and 2.2/7. Dirty Sexy Money was third with 6.25 million and 2.0/6.

It was a typical Thursday, with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Grey's Anatomy sharing the 9:00pm hour. CSI came in first in viewers with 18.11 million, beating Grey's 15.63 million. In the 18-49 demo, prized by advertisers, Grey's beat CSI, 5.9/14 to 5.1/12. NBC had third place for the hour with a combination of The Office (8.35 million, 4.2/10) and 30 Rock (8.00 million, 3.9/9). Fox's Kitchen Nightmares (4.69 million, 2.2/5) and Supernatural (3.73 million, 1.6/4) rounded out the hour. CSI lead-out Eleventh Hour won the 10:00pm hour in viewers (10.97 million) and got second in 18-49 (3.1/8) behind ER. Despite winning in viewers, Hour's retention out of CSI was only 60% in total viewers and the key demo.
