Scripted TV had stiff competition.
On Monday, CSI: Miami earned the top spot at 10:00pm with 8.79 million viewers for its repeat. Game 5 of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals (with an average of 5.81 million viewers from 8:00-11:00pm) on NBC and the premiere of ABC's The Mole (4.73 million) came up short. In the 18-49 demographic, Miami pulled in a 2.6 rating/7 share. Game 5 averaged 2.5/7 and Mole ended up with 2.0/6.
CSI: New York had 9.16 million viewers for its repeat on Wednesday, easily beating the competition--Game 6 of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals had an average of 7.02 million viewers from 8:00-11:00pm, and Men in Trees pulled in 5.25 million. In the 18-49 demo, New York had a rating/share of 2.2/6. This put it behind Game 6, which had an average of 3.0/9, but ahead of Men, which earned 1.4/4.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation aired two repeats on Thursday. At 8:00pm, CSI came in third with 8.23 million viewers behind So You Think You Can Dance with 9.08 million and Jimmy Kimmel Live with 8.58 million, but ahead of Last Comic Standing, which had 4.94 million viewers. In the 18-49 demo, CSI (1.9/4) was behind Kimmel (2.9/10, rising to 3.4/11 at the half-hour), Dance (3.3/10) and Comic (2.1/6).
At 9:00pm, the second CSI repeat pulled in 9.43 million viewers, putting it in second place behind the 9.60 million earned by Game 1 of the NBA Finals. In the 18-49 demographic, CSI (2.3/7) remained in fourth place behind the Finals (3.6/11, rising to 3.9/11 at 9:30pm), Dance (3.3/10) and Comic (which beat CSI in the 9:00pm hour despite having a lower average, 2.1/6, for the two-hour episode).
Following CSI, the premiere of Swingtown was watched by 8.58 million viewers (retaining 89% of CSI's audience), putting it in second place behind the NBA Finals (10.31 million). Swingtown built on its lead-in CSI in the 18-49 demographic, earning a 2.8/8 (17% higher than CSI), although it still came in behind the Finals (4.1/12, rising to 4.3/13 at 10:30pm).
