With CBS hitting a full week of sweeps this week, it will be airing three brand-new CSI episodes to rise to the occasion with.

First up to meet the task is CSI: Miami, tonight at a special time of 9:30pm. The episode, entitled "Crime Wave" will last an hour and a half, and feature the events leading up to and following a tsunami hitting Miami. The Futon Critic gives a synopsis of the episode as follows:

A huge tsunami is heading directly towards Miami and the 10-hour warning gives citizens just enough time to evacuate inland. In the chaos, two people are killed in a parking lot and the evidence leads Horatio to discover a plot to rob a bank timed to take advantage of the evacuation. However, as the CSIs close in on the robbery already in progress, they find that it's a more elaborate crime than they previously thought. Meanwhile, in the wake of the storm, Ryan and Alexx discover a body washed up from a local cemetery that may have a different cause of death than originally recorded.

The episode was directed by Karen Gaviola, whose previous work includes "Pro Per", "Money for Nothing" and "Extreme", as well as episodes of fellow procedural drama Cold Case. It was written by supervising producer Elizabeth Devine, herself a former criminologist and writer of numerous CSI and CSI: Miami episodes.

Lea and was summarised by the Futon Critic as follows:

In a test of faith to them both, Mac assigns Danny and Aiden to one of the team's toughest cases yet: a multiple homicide in which employees of a restaurant are found shot to death with plastic bags over their heads. As they examine the clues, all signs point to an "inside" job but not to a suspect. The episode will feature Grissom working with a dayshift CSI shortly after colleague and rival Conrad Ecklie has received a promotion. It was penned by executive producer Naren Shankar in collaboration with story editor Dustin Lee Abrahams. Directed by Bill Eagles (The Riverman; The Book of Ruth), the episode was summarised as below by the Futon Critic:

Grissom abruptly leaves a dinner honoring Conrad Ecklie's (Marc Vann) appointment to new Assistant Director of the Crime Lab after he gets an urgent page to rush across the street to a hotel suite where a high school student was found dead. Dayshift CSI Sofia Curtis (Lombard) assists Grissom with the case. The autopsy reveals that the victim died of suffocation after one of her classmates was kidnapped from the party. The CSI team now races to find the kidnapped victim before she is found dead, too.
