Hill Harper has joined the ranks of CSI morgue residents Robert David Hall (Al Robbins) and Khandi Alexander (Alexx Woods).
Harper was yesterday tapped to play the coroner in CSI: New York, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Although the trade paper did not release the name of Harper's character, in the original draft of the New York pilot, the coroner is called Dr. Sheldon Hawkes and described as "a flamboyant, one hundred and forty pounds dripping wet native New Yorker".
A graduate of Brown University and Harvard Law School, Harper has an extensive range of film and television credits. His roles on the silver screen include Coleman Sykes in He Got Game and Xavier in Get on the Bus. On television, he most recently starred as Darnell in The Handler, a role that scored him a Golden Satellite nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor. Harper's other credits include City of Angels, NYPD Blue and ER.
CSI: New York will star Emmy Award-winner Gary Sinise (Forrest Gump) as Rick Calucci and Melina Kanakaredes (Providence) as Stella Bonasera. The CSI: Miami cross-over episode which will introduce the team, entitled "MIA/NYC - NONSTOP" is currently in production, with location scenes being filmed in New York this week.
"MIA/NYC - NONSTOP" will likely air on May 17, 2004.
