Fans who may have been worried about the fate of one or all the CSI shows can breathe a sigh of relief.

CBS announced yesterday the CSI trio are included in the list of returning shows for the 2006-2007 season. CSI and Miami are still considered two of the network's highest rated shows, while New York's numbers have seen a pleasant increase during the show's second season.

"These series are the foundation of a schedule that is broader and deeper than any on television," said Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, of the returning series. "From the start of the night through 11PM, from Monday through Sunday, CBS is populated with successful programs on every night and in every time period -- many of which are Number One in their time period, and some even Number One on the entire night."

Three of the Eye Network's freshman series are also expected to return next year. Aisha Tyler (Mia Dickerson) will next season get a chance to portray her character Andrea Moreno in the series Ghost Whisperer, which, in its first season, became a Friday night hit. The new procedural drama Criminal Minds and the sitcom How I Met Your Mother were also renewed.
