Gary Dourdan (Warrick Brown) and George Eads (Nick Stokes) are friends onscreen and behind the scenes.
"Gary and I understand each other," Eads explained in the December 10 issue of TV Guide. "He's such an individual, and he thinks for himself. I'm the same way." Dourdan added that he and his co-star "keep each other in check" and that there is a "respect and love" between the two. "Yeah, it's good, healthy man-love," Eads said. "We've got each other's backs. I don't wanna borrow money from him or sleep with him, so he's safe with me."
Dourdan spoke about the personal storyline for Warrick that surfaced in "Cockroaches". After his marriage failed and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) left, Warrick "doesn't feel like he has a connection to anything anymore," Dourdan said. "It was important for us to show him unraveling." The storyline was a welcome change for Dourdan, who said that "the last couple of years have been a bit slow." Eads described doing the same character for a long time as "a grind" and said that sometimes he wants to try something else. "But at the same time," he continued, "I like to finish what I started. I gotta see it to the end."
It is inevitable that eventually both actors will move on from CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. "We won't be known as Nick Stokes and Warrick Brown for the rest of our lives," Dourdan said, but he expressed the hope that he and Eads would work together in the future "on another project, either as actors, producers or directors." Eads said that both he and Dourdan have considered "making the move to the other side of the lens." CSI is a "stepping stone" in their careers, according to Dourdan, and Eads added, "This is just the tip of the iceberg."
