Adam Rodriguez On Being A Piece In A Board Game

Adam Rodriguez (Eric Delko) recently said you know you've made it when you turn out to be a piece in a board game.

The CSI: Miami visited The Early Show to promote the CSI: Miami Board Game. In it, players have the option of choosing one of the CSIs to solve crimes. "It's a trip, actually, to be on top of a board game," the actor told Rene Syler of his Eric Delko piece. "It's kind of like being the top hat in Monopoly."

The board game is just one of the many CSI: Miami merchandise items floating around, created due to the franchise's immense popularity. Rodriguez said he knew CSI was big when he joined Miami, but didn't imagine its popularity would keep growing. "Even if you think it's going to be that popular, until you sort of travel around, especially going outside of the country, and realize how tremendously popular it is," he said. "It's a phenomenon."

Miami is constantly pushing the envelope with ripped-from-the-headline cases, like the episode that mirrored the real life case of Natalee Holloway earlier in the season. With these plots hitting so close to home, the cast of Miami has to find a way to lighten things up around the set.

"We make a joke about everything," Rodriguez explained. "Khandi [Alexander] could have a dead body laying on the table. We sort of lighten up the situation because it can be heavy, if you sit there, and you're around all this death each day, and the horrible things that happen to people, and the special effects makeup is phenomenal."
