  • TV Guide critic Matt Roush has become the latest television reviewer sound off at CSI: New York's dark atmosphere. Here's an extract from his editorial:

Sadly, no one's the life of the deadly party on CSI: NY. A weary, sour glumness saturates this dark-hued show. As the steely leader, a former Marine and 9/11 widower, Gary Sinise glowers moodily, and his monotony is contagious.

  • NBC president of entertainment Kevin Reilly recently told USA Today he's not worried about Law & Order's declining ratings this season, pointing out that the margin between it and CSI: New York is a narrow one. "As much as CSI is impacting Law & Order, we're impacting CSI: NY," he said. "The sounding of alarm bells is way premature."

  • Karyn L. Barr at Entertainment Weekly has posted her weekly CSI episode review, but as two of the three CSI episodes airing over the past seven days were repeats, the only new episode she examines is New York's "Officer Blue," which she awarded with a C. The repeats of CSI's "Viva Las Vegas" and Miami's "Pro Per" ended up with an A- and a B, respectively.

  • Television Without Pity's 'Sobell' has posted her full recap of the most recent new CSI episode, "Mea Culpa." Sobell awarded the episode a B, and had this to say about the format changes presented: "I think this shakes things up nicely, but I don't see the split being permanent, as there's plenty of material to oust Ecklie and undo his work by May sweeps. And then, we can begin Season Six with Gil in the shower, walking out to tell [fill in person of your choice],'I just had the strangest dream...'"
