Gil Grissom (William Petersen) sets up shop in Boston, Massachusetts.

"CSI: The Experience" debuted in Chicago, Illinois in May and stayed there until September 3. The second stop on the exhibit's touring schedule was Boston, where it opened on September 30. "We're expecting at least 100,000 to come through the exhibit (in Boston), though it's hard to determine," said Suzanne Berryman, program manager in exhibit interpretation at the Museum of Science, Boston. "The first day we nearly sold out, so it could be more. It seems to be very popular."

"CSI: The Experience" gives fans of the show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation the chance to solve a murder. There are three crime scenes to choose from, and one of them was designed to be less gruesome so that it would be more appropriate for parents with younger children. Visitors to the exhibit collect clues and visit a replica of Grissom's office to learn if they correctly solved the crime. In addition to the exhibit itself, the museum is offering lectures from real-life forensic experts. There are also kiosks set up throughout the general museum to let visitors learn more about forensic investigation.

"Forensics is a fantastic way to talk about the sciences and tech. It includes biology, chemistry, physics and a good bit of digital tech," Berryman said. She also said that the exhibit could appeal to schools as a way to provide necessary knowledge to their students. "It's the foundation of the scientific method that students are required to learn in the state of Massachusetts," she said. "So it's not just scientific content, but also the scientific method."

The original article is from ZDNet. "CSI: The Experience" will be in Boston until January 1, 2008.
