'Friends' Turns The Screws On 'CSI'

The finale of the long-running sitcom Friends managed to draw 51 million viewers, beating out a new episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in the 9pm eastern time slot.
According to Zap2It.com, CSI landed in second for the hour, earning a 12.8 rating/19 share. This means that 12.8% of households were watching "Turning of the Screws" last night at 9pm, while 19% of all households watching television at the time were viewing the episode. Down from last week's rating of 18.0/26, "Turning of the Screws" pulled in CSI's lowest first-run ratings of 2004.
The Friends finale earned a 29.2/42, coming in first for both the hour and the evening. In the 8pm hour before the finale, NBC aired a Friends clipshow, which earned a 21.5/34. CBS's Survivor: All Stars came in second for the 8pm hour, earning a 10.8/17.
Buoyed by Friends's success, ER claimed victory in the 10pm hour with a 19.9/31. Again, CBS took second place with Without a Trace, which earned a 10.5/16. NBC easily took the night with a 23.6/36, while CBS slid into second place with a 11.4/17.
