Caruso: 'Resden's Everything You Look For In A 'CSI' Villain'

Damian Young's character Walter Resden has developed quite a reputation in and out of the set of CSI: Miami.

"It's a little strange," Young told TV Guide this week. "People come up to me at restaurants and say, 'Ooh, you're so good at being bad.'"

David Caruso, whose character Horatio Caine has been haunted by Walter Resden for years, agrees. "Resden's everything you look for in a CSI villain. He's pond scum, basically."

Horatio and Resden first crossed paths in New York, when a young couple was brutally murdered and Resden became the primary suspect. He was able to slip out of Horatio's hands but not out of his radar. Years later, Resden struck again, this time in Miami. "He keeps hitting happily married couples but puts kids where they don't have to see the violence," explained showrunnerAnn Donahue.

This is due to Resden's abusive rearing, which, it was revealed during "Skeletons,", isn't too different from Horatio's. This makes the two men more similar than they'd like to admit. "Resden and Horatio share a history of abuse," Young explained. "Now Resden is looking to Horatio to help redeem himself."

We may have seen the last of Resden in "Skeletons," but Young wishes the writers would take the storyline just a bit further. "By the end of this episode, we'll finally discover why he's so bad, but it would be cool to see what happens to him next."
