Fox: Maybe I'm Just Having A Midlife Crisis

Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) didn't think she'd be on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation for this long.
"You know, at first I thought I'd just do eight episodes," she told the New York Post. "We were the little show in a crummy time slot chugging along. We started out on-air Friday nights - the kiss of death, I thought." Little did she know how far CSI would go. "The series worked for us because we were doing stories about new technologies happening right that moment," she said. "It made us feel smart."
Fox finally chose to leave CSI after seven full seasons. "Maybe I'm just having a midlife crisis," she said. "Maybe this will be the worst decision I ever make." But she didn't leave on bad terms. "Well, I'm not leaving under a cloud," she explained. "It is much harder for me to leave than to stay. Actually, I've been thinking about leaving for a year and a half. I had to get up the courage."
One of the reasons that Fox left the show was to return to the stage. "Theater is one of my loves," she said, "so I'm open for that after 11½ years of working in prime-time TV, for ER, The West Wing and CSI." Fox contemplated other ways to spend her time now that she is no longer a part of CSI. Two of the hobbies she said she would like to pursue were travelling and surfing, and Fox also mentioned possibly going to college. "I am also thinking about having a child, and that's really important," she said. But what about CSI? "Will I go back? Well, I hope to do future episodes, depending on the storyline," she explained. "Contrary to rumor, I never could be sick of those people."
