'CSI: New York' Gets A Full Season

Fresh-faced Big Apple-based CSI: New York, the new kid on the block, has had an order placed for 10 more new episodes, giving it a guaranteed full first season with CBS.

Yahoo! News reported that the third CSI star has clearly caught the eye of network executives, being as it is the first freshman show this time around to get the full-season green light from CBS. Only earlier this week, CBS dropped another of its new series, the ill-fated Dr. Vegas (story).

It probably comes as little surprise, as CSI: NY has regularly topped its timeslot of Wednesday 10pm in adults aged 18-49. Despite struggling a little during the baseball season, it has nonetheless trounced NBC veteran Law & Order on a number of occasions, and has thrived against competition from the legal drama and ABC's reality TV show Wife Swap.

New York has also averaged 16.7 million viewers over its five showings, and an average rating of 6.2/16 in adults 18-49. This means that for all the relevant households in America, 6.2% of that demographic watched the show, rising to 16% when factoring only in those actually watching television on the night. This puts it in third place in ratings for a new drama, behind ABC's popular Desperate Housewives and Lost.
