CSI: Miami network CBS swept to an overnight victory on Monday, winning every hour of prime time with a substantial 44% lead over nearest competitor NBC.

The 11.4 rating/17 share earned by CSI: Miami's "Tinder Box" constituted slightly lower ratings than those of last week's "Spring Break", which received an 11.5 rating/18 share in the overnights, according to MediaWeek.com's overnight ratings. That means that this week, approximately 11.4% of American households with television sets were tuned to "Tinder Box", and 17% of households watching television at the time had CSI: Miami on the screen.

Yet the ratings for "Tinder Box" are impressive considering that it faced competition from two season finales: the two-hour final episode of The Practice on ABC, which averaged an 8.1/12 over two time slots, and Crossing Jordan on NBC, which brought in a 7.5/11.

"Tinder Box" generated controversy because of its similarities to a deadly fire at a Warwick, Rhode Island nightclub last February. Out of respect for the victims, the Rhode Island affiliate chose not to air the episode, instead using the time slot to show highlights from a concert held to raise money for the families of the victims.

Overnight ratings only calculate the top markets; final figures will be available next week. The original ratings article is available here at MediaWeek.com.
