November sweeps gets off to a rocky start with this week's episode of the original CSI.
CBS wasn't able to beat ABC overall on Monday against the hugely-popular Dancing With the Stars, which got 21.57 million viewers. CSI: Miami, however, was the show to beat in the 10:00pm timeslot with 15.19 million viewers overall. It also had the highest totals in the 18-49 demographic for the time period with a 4.8 rating/12 share.
On Wednesday, the HUT (or "households using television") was lower than normal because it was Halloween. CBS was the most-watched network of the night and tied with ABC for the highest percentages in the 18-49 demographic. CSI: New York's lead-in, Criminal Minds, had 14.69 million viewers. The numbers went down at the 10:00pm hour for New York, and the forensic drama received 13.84 million viewers. Despite the difference in overall viewers, CSI: NY and Minds had similar scores in the 18-49 demographic (with 3.7/10 for New York and 3.5/10 for Minds).
Thursday marked the first day of November sweeps. For the first time this season, Grey's Anatomy beat CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in the 9:00pm hour with 19.31 million viewers overall. CSI had 19.06 million. In the 18-49 demographic, Grey's opened up a larger gap between itself and CSI, earning 8.1/19 to CSI's 5.7/14. Grey's benefited from having an extra seven minutes at the end of the episode.
