Are You Dying To Be On ‘CSI’?
By DeborahApril 4, 2007 - 11:05 PM
Producers of CSI have been hearing fans clamor for the past seven years that they would kill for the opportunity to play a corpse on the show. CBS must have been listening. Now fans will get their chance, in the form of a sweepstakes.
“We thought, ‘If everyone wants to be a dead body, why not make it a contest?’” says executive producer Carol Mendelsohn.
Beginning with the April 26th episode, an icon will briefly appear on the screen. The icon is the doll that has become the key prop in the season-long hunt for the miniature killer. A phone number will also be displayed. Viewers can call the number to be entered in the sweepstakes. In May, a winner will be randomly selected. The winner gets to play a dead body on the show. And they don’t even have to kill anyone for the opportunity.
The sweepstakes represents yet another effort the network has made this season to actively involve fans. A giveaway called CSI Q has been running throughout the season on CSI:NY, whereby viewers can call in their guess as to the killer’s identity for the chance to win $10,000.
The full story appears in this week’s issue of TV Guide.
