Aisha Tyler Talks Soup

Aisha Tyler (Mia Dickerson) has dished it out: CSI has the best caterers.

"I don't want to rag on somebody's food. But on the CSI set, they have homemade soup every day — which I know doesn't sound exciting, but it is always good because they keep that set cold to keep all the bodies, livers and maggots fresh," Tyler told Rochell D. Thomas at TV Guide Online.

The former Talk Soup host can be seen almost everywhere nowadays, but despite the busy schedule, she's showing no signs of slowing down. "It's really exhausting. But [the shows] work it out, then they call me and tell me when to show up and where," the actress said.

Tyler started out with humorous guest roles on shows like Friends and Curb Your Enthusiasm, but the former stand-up comedienne has recently focused more on drama. "I did a very intense episode of Nip/Tuck [last] spring. I played a Somali model who was a victim of female genital mutilation. A lot of people saw that, and I got calls from four dramas within a week."

Two of those four dramas include CSI, where her character is a DNA analyst, and FOX's 24, where she portrays data analyst Marianne Taylor. "Someone asked me the other day, 'Are you being typecast as a scientist?' And I was like, 'Am I going to complain about being typecast as smart? I don't think so,'" Tyler said. The two roles require rather difficult technical dialogue, but that doesn't faze the actress, who admitted, "The more technical dialogue tends to be on CSI. But I wanted to be an engineer, so none of the dialogue is difficult for me."

With such a busy schedule, some actresses might worry about stress lines, but Tyler is planning on making lemon out of lemonades. "I'm just going to let it show. [...] In 20 or 30 years, directors are going to be looking for women to play mothers and nobody's going to look like a mother. Then you're going to have women who look 30 playing the mothers of other 30-year-old women because they can't find anybody who looks normal."
