CBS's crime time duo, William Petersen (Gil Grissom) and Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows), have been given a plum new assignment with plenty of glitz, glamour, and not a drop of blood in sight.

The CSI: Crime Scene Investigation stars have been tapped as presenters for the 2003 Primetime Emmy Awards, according to a press release at Emmys.org. This year's ceremony, which will be broadcast live on the FOX network, is scheduled to be held at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday, September 21.

Petersen and Helgenberger, who is also nominated for her performance in CSI, join several other television couples who have already signed up for podium duties at the Emmys. Other presenters include James Gandolfini and Edie Falco from The Sopranos, Will & Grace's Debra Messing and Eric McCormack, and Jane Kaczmarek and Bryan Cranston from Malcolm in the Middle.

The television couples theme fits in with the unconventional approach to this year's Emmy Awards. Instead of electing to have one or two celebrities host the awards, the ceremony will be compered by a group of comics, including Bernie Mac, Conan O'Brien and Ellen De Generes.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is up for six gongs at the 2003 Emmys, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series. CSI: Miami received one nod, for cinematography. The winners in the technical categories will be announced on September 13.
