Hello World!
When I was growing up, Labor Day (the first Monday in September in the US) always marked the end of summer. We always went back to school for the fall on the Tuesday afterward. Now, however, my children start school the last week in August, so on a day like today when the temperature's in the eighties and the pool's still open, it's hard for me to think of it as being autumn. Of course the fact that there's no college football yet alters that perception somewhat.
My weekends, however, are already booked for the fall: in addition to soccer and Hebrew school, we've got a list of birthday parties and Jewish holidays and family events on the calendar. My in-laws are in town with their beagle. Our two cats apparently did not read the page in the manual about cats being afraid of dogs, and are chasing her around the house, trying to keep her out of the trash cans.
Every night for the past two weeks, we've tried to see Mars. Yesterday we were even in Baltimore near the Maryland Science Center, where we hoped to visit the observatory. But even on the rare days when it hasn't rained, it has been so overcast after sunset that we've barely been able to make out Mars during this close approach to Earth.
Maybe it will be drier in the fall.

Horatio and his crew investigate the deaths of two college students who were in Miami on spring break. The first is a teen girl found dead on a beach with her neck broken and human bite marks on her legs. The second is a young man found on the bottom of a motel swimming pool who apparently died before he hit the water.
A murder aboard a luxurious 747 and the discovery of two formally attired teens in the desert confound Grissom and his crew in this absorbing episode. First, a horse trainer is found dead in the cargo bay of a private jet carrying 12 well-heeled passengers and a million-dollar show horse. Initially, it appears the victim was trampled to death, but Grissom and Catherine uncover evidence of foul play. Meanwhile, in the Hell's Gate section of Death Valley, Sara and Warrick probe the apparent suicide of a 15-year-old boy found under a bedspread. The investigation intensifies when a girl's body turns up a half-mile away.
Grissom investigates the murder of a woman who was found in a lake with one leg missing; Nick and Sara probe the apparent suicide of a college student who failed to get into a fraternity.
