Criminal Minds isn’t on the schedule Wednesday. Instead, CBS will air Survivor from 8:00-9:30pm ET/PT, followed by Big Brother from 9:30-11:00pm ET/PT. Minds will be back next week with the season 11 premiere.

In the special two-hour series finale, a catastrophic event paralyzes Las Vegas, and Gil Grissom, Catherine Willows and Jim Brass return to help the team with the investigation. Also, D.B. Russell and Sara Sidle make decisions regarding the future of their crime-fighting careers, and Lady Heather returns, creating maniacal controversy between Grissom and Sidle.
Executive Producer Louis Milito directed the two-part finale, which marks his nineteenth credit for CSI; he most recently helmed “Rubbery Homicide” during season fifteen. “Immortality” was written by series creator Anthony Zuiker, whose 32 previous writing credits include the CSI: Cyber backdoor pilot, “Kitty”.

William Petersen is back as former boss Gil Grissom, whose final appearance as a series regular was in the season nine episode “One to Go”. He was last seen onscreen in season eleven’s “The Two Mrs Grissoms”, and his voice was most recently heard in season thirteen’s “Dead Air”. Marg Helgenberger returns as Catherine Willows, who left the show in the season 12 episode “Willows in the Wind”. She appeared (via flashbacks) in the 300th episode, “Frame by Fame”, during season fourteen. Paul Guilfoyle was written out of the show after the season 14 finale, “Dead in His Tracks”. Katie Stevens brings back the role of Catherine’s daughter, Lindsey, who was previously played by Kay Panabaker (“World’s End”) and Madison McReynolds (“Weeping Willows”). Melinda Clarke was last seen as Lady Heather in the season 11 episode “Unleashed”. Marc Vann and Larry Mitchell are reprising their established recurring roles.
Jason Gerhardt played Squad Leader Anthony Hurst in season fourteen’s “Under a Cloud” and the season 15 premiere, “The CSI Effect”. Alexandra Barreto has previously appeared on CSI (“Art Imitates Life”) and CSI: New York (“Trapped”). Doug Hutchison has been on CSI (“Stalker”) and CSI: Miami (“Slow Burn”). Rick Kelly guest-starred in the Miami episode “Felony Flight” during the show’s fourth season. Roxy Wood voiced Andre in the 2003 CSI video game. The other actors are new to the franchise.
