Peter MacNicol Joins The Cast Of ‘CSI:Cyber’

The upcoming CSI: Crime Scene Investigation spinoff CSI: Cyber has added another series regular to the cast: Peter MacNicol (Ally McBeal, Numb3rs) will play Assistant Director Stavros Sifter, the supervisor of Special Agent Avery Ryan (Patricia Arquette). According to Variety, Sifter is a “career FBI insider” who quickly rose through the ranks. In his current position, he serves as the clearinghouse between the Cyber Crime Division and the other branches of government. Here are some additional details about the character:

He is a shrewd and savvy networker; a charmer with a hint of malice. Drilling down to the core of his “Classified” status, Sifter knows what very few know behind the closed doors of the U.S. Government. The social networks and devices we use on a daily basis are the Government’s way of monitoring its citizens domestically and abroad — therefore, Sifter has the impossible task of controlling the amplification of cyber crime in an era where the collective world communicates electronically.
